Weymouth & Portland Children’s Centres
Weymouth and Portland Children’s Centres provide a wide variety of services for children under 5 and their families in the Weymouth and Portland area. There are centres at Littlemoor, Portland and in the town centre with a fourth centre scheduled to open in January in the Westham area.
Weymouth and Portland Children’s Centres work closely with other agencies including Health, Education and Children’s Services to provide a supportive service to families to ensure that children are able to reach their full potential. Information is available about a wide variety of topics, including weaning though to healthy family meal options, potty training, encouraging speech and language development and also managing children’s behaviour and much much more, with activities including our Stay and Play sessions, PEEP’s and baby massage.
Further details about the exciting programme of events and activities can be found in all of the centres and also through any of the agencies involved. Please ask your midwife or health visitor for more details.
All of the activities are provided free of charge and our centre opening time are from 8.30 a.m to 5.00 p.m Monday to Thursday and 8.30 a.m to
4.30 p.m on a Friday.
Contraceptive Services
The Contraceptive Service (sometimes still referred as “Family Planning”) is based in Dorchester at 55 High West Street. However, in order to serve the needs of Dorset’s population it offers services that cover most areas of Dorset.
The service is available to anyone, male or female and of any age. We offer professional advice, information and access to a wide selection of Contraceptive choices. All the services provided are confidential and free and include access to Emergency Hormonal Contraception and Pregnancy Testing if required.
